Getting Your Garden Ready For The Summer

Now that spring is finally here it is the perfect time for everyone to start planning what they want to do to improve their garden in time for the summer. It does not matter if you have a small or big garden there are a number of things that you can do easily to transform the look of your garden. There are solutions for almost any garden whether you want to start growing your own vegetables, want to host garden parties in the summer or simply want to encourage your kids to exercise more often by installing a pool..

Adding Sculpture And Paving

Using paving and garden sculpture is not a new idea but you don't have to follow the standard rules. A well planned paving design that incorporates a garden sculpture can be both eye catching and functional. Using permeable paving is a great way of doing this as it allows any water to drain through it into the ground naturally, helping to prevent potential flooding. There is a wide choice of colours and materials available with permeable paving making it very flexible enough to combine with a garden sculpture. The range of different garden sculptures that are available mean that there are plenty to choose from. While some people will go for the standard garden gnomes or wildlife statues many others might want to branch out to more artistic creations.

Above Ground Swimming Pools

When most people think of installing a swimming pool their mind conjures up images of months of building and installation work. An option that is less expensive and quicker to install is above ground swimming pools. Above ground pools make a welcome addition to most gardens as they are available in a variety of shapes and styles. This means you can have a small octagonal splash pool or a stretched octagon shaped pool depending on how you wish to use it.

Turn Your Garden Into A Mini Allotment

Growing your own vegetables is a great way to get your children interested in vegetables and you don't need a large area to do it in. There are a number of ways you can grow vegetables in your garden without using a lot of space. One of the best ways to do this is with raised garden beds as they can be made or bought for any size garden. A raised garden bed is typically take up more space in depth rather than width as this helps to provide a better growing environment than a normal flower bed. If you are good at DIY then you could build your own raised garden bed but there are a number of different kits that are also available to buy.

Build A Bigger BBQ

While many people are happy to use disposable BBQ's or small gas ones some of us hunger for more. A great way of creating a permenant BBQ is to build one out of bricks and a few other materials to create a BBQ you'll use regularly. To do this you just need to buy some bricks, cement and a metal rack to grill your food on and can typically get the work done over a weekend. The great thing about building your own BBQ is that you can create a BBQ that meets your needs and looks the way that you want it to.
